Holi is is known as festival of color, joy and love which is celebrated in South Asia during spring season. The festival Holi is primarily celebrated in India and Nepal but it is now spreading in parts of Europe and North Americas as a spring celebration of love, frolic and colours.
Holi is actually celebrated on Phalgun Purnima which is occur generally in month of February or March. It is believe that Holi celebration is start with Holika bonfire on the night before Holi and the the next morning carnivals of color where everyone enjoy with color, water, dance, sing, and balloon with water.
This festival is one of the enjoyable and colorful festivals which make all the people happy to enjoy in the bright color like red, pink, green, blue, purple, yellow and many more. During the Holi festival all the people take part in great pleasure in the color and water by pouring to each other by buckets and pichkaris.
Why we celebrate Holi?????????????In many legends, it believed that Holi is celebrating by destroying the demons Holika. In history it says that the king whose son is the great follower of Lord Vishnu but the King want him son to pray him because he think that he is a god. Then due to the son behavior king wants to kill his son.
Finally he called her sister Holika. Holika was blessed by the god Brahma if she jumped in the fire she will not be burnt. So the egotistical king decided to kill the son so he said to his sister to take Prahlada with her and jump in the fire. Then Holika jumped in the fire but the Holika burnt by the fire and Prahlada is saved. The blessing given by the Brahma could be used for the good and nice purpose. Thus Holi is celebrated as the Victory of good over evil as well as light over darkness and kindness over unkindness.
Mainly at the festival marriage women take fasting for full moon and worshiped to the moon at the night time by making delicious food and pray long life for husband and for their family, it’s self her to have good life ahead in future as well.
In this festival not only the children play but also the every aged people play with different color and water and enjoy with each other. This Holi festival is the combination of different colors and people celebrate this festival by taking all the sorrow away and making the life more colorful.
